Whether following the hard work of cowboys crossing the Rio Grande or the adventures of tricky desert hares and coyotes, children can find plenty of opportunities for open-ended play with this hand-felted desert river playscape.
The mat is approximately 18 by 19 inches. The tallest cactus is just about 4 inches tall.
Needle felting is an artform using thin barbed needles to enmesh natural fibers, usually wool, until they hold the desired shape on their own. It is a time consuming process into which much patience and love is poured. The playscape and cacti base are also wet felted, with handstitching contributing structure and contrast to the cacti.
This playscape is suitable for gentle play. Because wool bits and fibers may pose a choking hazard, these toys are not recommended unsupervised for children who still explore the world with their mouths.
(Ostheimer cow not included.)
