2.5 X 2.5 inch Saint John the Baptist Byzantine / Folk icon print on wood
Created by Applewood Doll HospitalDescription
He was the greatest prophet for he was the one who got to tell everyone that Jesus was coming. He’s often pictured with wings to symbolize that he is a messenger of God (not because we believe he became an angel. Humans can’t become Angels, which is good because we should be what we are). He is also usually pictured holding a platter with his own head on it, but I opted for the more innocuous sea shell since I painted this for my son and he’s still prone to nightmares. He has the little cross to symbolize his own shared martyrdom with his Cousin. He was super intense and I’m sure he would’ve terrified me, but I totally would’ve been living out there in the desert hanging on his every word!
This is a print mounted on wood with a hanger in back. Other sizes available. Please allow one week for artisaning.
