Quite simply, I have always loved monograms! Perhaps it is a subconscious thing, because as a kid in the 70’s the only gifts you could find with a name on it were pre-fab license plates, mugs and pens. They NEVER had AnnaBeth! I do remember getting an engraved bracelet in 6th grade with -GASP- my name engraved on it! Oh how I treasured that bracelet.
Then there was my love of sewing, design and creating things. In junior high I was making 3-piece suits and competing in fashion shows. I come from a long line of women who don’t just sew, but CREATE! Thanks to my Mom, Grandmommy and Grandmother for sharing their love of sewing with me and inspiring me to start my own business. I still use my Grandmother’s beloved Bernina sewing machine for my own projects at home. It’s one of my most cherished items. :)
My daughter Julia and I opened our boutique Custom Threads in 2006. She left in 2012 after graduating college to pursue her love of glass blowing and sells beautiful jewels at www.jujuglass.com. And so the creativity continues to the next generation!
In 2015 we made the decision to close our retail business and focus on our online customers. It was a great decision and made life a little less hectic!
My husband works with me now, and we continue to search Dallas Market and other markets high and low for fun, new items to monogram. And I can put my unique name on anything I want!
