All my life I have had a fondness for quotes.  Even when I was little I would write out quotes and tape them onto my bedroom walls for daily inspiration.  I always loved the act of writing and would look forward to simply addressing envelopes, a chore that causes most people to groan.  It was not until 2014 a friend inspired me to look into the ART of handwriting and take a calligraphy class.  I was captivated by the idea of turning my beloved quotes into art.  I have been drawing since I was little—such is the story for most people, but I continued on with it while my classmates and friends went onto cooler endeavors;-)—and in 2012 I took my first watercolor class.  Once I started combining these two newfound passions of mine, I knew I had tapped into a deeper longing in my heart: to share my art and spread reminders of God’s love and mercy through such art.

 

        I combine inspiring religious quotes with calligraphy and art.  Each piece is hand-painted and hand-lettered by myself.  My art can be used as gifts for a myriad of events—weddings, birthdays, Christmas, Mother’s Day, baptisms, confirmations, or to simply let a loved one know you are thinking of them.  I would love it if you used my art and, more importantly, God’s words to reach out to someone today.

Each year around Christmas, we find so many homes beautifully decorated for the holiday season all to see the tree topper crooked, leaning or falling down.  Solutions have greatly varied - most of which, have included a stick, some tape and some sort of tie-down strap. The most unusual method we have encountered was a screwdriver stuck onto the top of a tree!  For many years we have wrestled with our own tree and several times the tree was nearly knocked over, trying to get the topper in the correct place and straight. It was also disappointing that the prettiest piece of the tree, and often times one of the heaviest pieces - and most expensive - was to go at the top of the tree where the tree is at its weakest point.

We have waited for the industry to solve this problem, we have seen many toppers come and go and several “sticks” which some manufacturers have created, but none have solved the problem of how to secure a bigger, unique topper and heavier topper to the weakest part of a Christmas tree. We decided to solve the problem ourselves and have created, what we call, our bracketing device and pole, Summit Arbor The Shepherd’s Staff™. (U.S. Patent No. 9,833,099)   The pole is secured to the tree with straps that we provide. The pole, at one end, has a screw top; the bracketing device (which is secured to the topper) is then screwed onto the pole after the tree is in place. The Shepherd’s Staff™ is placed on the tree prior to the tree being set up. However, the topper could be placed on the tree at any time in the decorating process, since it is screwed onto the pole, but we have found it easiest to screw it on after everything else is in place.

We have tried to choose unique, beautiful pieces to adorn your Christmas tree, rather than the usual star, angel or Santa toppers that the industry has continued to offer year after year.

We developed The Original Holy Water Guardian Angel. We've been blessing our kids w/ Holy Water every night since they were born (We need all the help we can get). Now that they are a little bigger it has become part of our going to bed ritual. So obviously, once they've run through the litany of; "I haven't brushed my teeth.",  "Can I have a glass of water.", & "Now, I have to go to the bathroom."... we finally get to "Papi, y el agua bendita?" (Daddy, and the Holy Water?). On comes the ensuing rush to find the little bottle of Holy Water from wherever it was set the night before. Praying to find it quickly as to not have to start the ritual again... I find the Holy Water and rush back. We say our prayers. Then, I bless them with Holy Water. As they request the I not go to sleep but rather watch them, Mommy walks in to explain that even though we'll be in the room next door, they are not alone... "Your guardian angels are watching over you."... kiss them good night and we read them to sleep. As I leave the room, I turn off the light and walk back to my room to pick where I'm going to hide the little bottle of Holy Water from myself this time. In all her wisdom, Mommy started thinking, 'we need a dedicated Holy Water holder'. In searching online we couldn't find anything we liked. That turned into a family weekend project that turned into this. The Holy Water Guardian Angel was born. In typical mommy genius, killing two birds with one stone, we'd added the perfect accessory to our little nest. Over time, we started thinking why someone hadn't given this to us from the beginning? It was the perfect baptism or baby shower gift. The one thing that we'd still be using years later. Well because nobody had made it. And we had. We genuinely want everyone to have one.
