I love Saint Peter!
He is pictured here with the church built on top of him as Jesus said, “You are my rock and on you I will build my church.”
Jesus gave Peter the keys to His kingdom which was common in their day when a king left the kingdom for a while to give the keys to his steward who would watch over the kingdom for him until the king returned.
Jesus asked Peter to take care of his sheep. Here he holds them in his hand.
The fish is to symbolize that Peter was a fisherman and then became a fisher of men.
I could spend the rest of my life thinking about Jesus’s best mate!
