For your valiant young defender of the Faith, this Girls First Communion Rosary, a one decade tenner perfectly sized for little hands, honors the brave Maiden Knights (Militissa) and their wards they protected. Inspired by the Order of the Hatchet (Orden de la Hacha), founded in 1149 by Raymond Berenguer, Count of Barcelona, to honor the courageous women who heroically defended the city of Tortosa during the Reconquista.

✧ This is the fourth design in my Medieval Knights Collection.

🔹Ethereal-blue Czech glass beads represent the Blessed Virgin Mary as the ultimate model of heroic virtue, paired with radiant golden brass adornments that evoke the glories of Her Son and His Kingdom.

🔹Both the solid brass Holy Name of Jesus (IHS) medal, and crucifix have been polished to a radiant sheen, then hand-lacquered for feminine elegance and timeless beauty.

🔹Polished brass ornamentation features delicate lacquered filigree in a medieval-style antique aesthetic.

🔹This compact one-decade design fits perfectly in a child’s hand, making daily prayer comfortable and natural.

🔸Includes the meditation found in the CONTEMPLATIVE SPIRITUAL MEANING given in the Description Section below.

🔸Comes gift-boxed with a ribbon-tied bow –ready for your First Holy Communion celebration or special Catholic gift.

✧ The themes of knighthood, love of neighbor, and valiant femininity in the face of danger pair beautifully with home-school lessons in Medieval history or family prayer time. Use this rosary to gently teach your child how to pray the daily Rosary.

One simple method: Pray one decade each day from Monday through Friday (ideal in the car on the way to school or at the home altar). By the end of the week, your child will have prayed a complete set of five decades — such as the Joyful Mysteries — and begun building a lifelong habit of prayer.

Description

ABOUT THE CONTEMPLATIVE NATURE OF THIS PIECE & ITS SPIRITUAL MEANING

First Communion is a very special and grace filled time. You receive and commune with Jesus! Yes! you receive Jesus: His Body, Blood, Soul and Divinity! This union with God reveals how much He loves both you and me. He wants to fill us with Himself. When we receive Him, we receive His grace that helps and strengthens us as followers of Christ. It enables us to stay very close to Him.

If we want to be close to Jesus, we must make an effort. We must talk with him every day. He loves us and wants Us to be a part of His Life and in His Circle of Friends.

To enable this relationship with Jesus, It’s important that we acknowledge it is Him in the Eucharist. We should worship and honor the Eucharist just like the Angels do. They bow down and kneel at the presence of Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament, i.e. kneeling and adoring.

We can and should kneel and adore too! It first starts by attentiveness to Him in the Blessed Sacrament at Church. Therefore, before we take our seat, we should genuflect to where he is safely reposed in the tabernacle. Then, during Mass when the Host and Chalice are raised, we like the Angels, should pay special attention and gaze upon Him — for the Face of the Eucharist is the Face of Christ.

If we do this, we will begin to see Jesus intuitively in the Sacred Host like the Angels can with the eyes of the Spirit. Then you too, will have the Light of Truth! The Medieval Lady Knights understood the importance of worshipping Christ in the Eucharist. It is where they derived their strength and courage to fight and defend their Faith even to death Like the Militissa (Female Knights) such as, “The Order of the Hatchet”

This Rosary Tenner has ethereal-blue Czech glass beads adorned in gold to honor Our Lady, the first woman defender of the Faith, who is above all creation, as our role model for sacrificial service to God. It Includes a special medal with Christ’s initials in Greek – IHS – surrounded by the Glory of God as a remembrance of the Holy name of Jesus. For when we call upon the name of Jesus, He turns His Face toward us as he does when we receive Him in the Eucharist during Holy Communion as a honorable little Lady Knight. If we look closely and adore him while receiving, we are actually gazing upon the Face of Christ.

It is through this gaze where we will see the light of Truth. As we become Eucharistic people and partake of the Sacraments on a regular bases, coupled with daily prayer, we begin to form a union, bond and friendship with Christ. As we draw closer to Christ recognizing His Face and His Word, we will stand ready to defend Him, His Holy Church and our Catholic Faith, then we become like the Medieval Maiden Knights of old.

About The Order of the Hacha (Hatchet): “This Order was founded in ca. 1149 by Raymond Berengarius, Count of Barcelona, as a female Order of Knighthood, to honor the women who fought for the liberation of Tortosa in Catalonia. The town was attacked by the Moors and the women helped in their defeat. The Dames who were admitted to the Order received many privileges and took precedence over men in public assemblies such was their honor and privilege for defending the Kingdom of God on earth –[Ref: Cardinale, Hyginus Eugene. Orders of Knighthood: Awards and the Holy See. Van Duren: Gerrards Cross, England. 1983. (p. 183)]

Quality Rosaries for Praying and Displaying!
Garden Path Rosaries™ carefully chooses every component to aid you in your prayer and meditation as if walking along a garden path deeply imbued with thoughts of the Triune God, His Angels and His Saints.
Inspired by my own prayer life and the search for God in every aspect of my life,
I began creating artisan rosaries and chaplets as a source of enhancing prayer beyond the rosary itself. Fulfilling those needs, the rosary became also a remembrance of the spiritual journey and specifically the present relationship and calling with Christ, His work, Our Lady, the Saints and their significance in my daily life. After having beads that gave personal meaning to my prayer life, I found myself going deeper into meditation with the very symbols the beads represented. In short, “looking at the beads” became a source of contemplation for me. I felt like others could benefit too, so I began creating rosaries inspired by my own prayer designs. I hope you enjoy praying them as much as I do!

ABOUT MY ARTISAN DESIGN STYLE:
The handmade rosary and chaplet designs of this shop are contemplative in nature. Because these pieces are religious works of art, they can also be displayed in the home as a visual source for meditation.
HOW ARE MY ROSARIES AND CHAPLETS MADE?
With much love!! I put a lot of thought into my designs. The metal components are solid untreated raw brass, unless otherwise stated. The religious Catholic rosary medals are made in the USA by a small Catholic family-owned business. They are machine cast from a type of yellow brass known as “Low Brass” because of their copper to zinc ratio, giving these pieces the look of 14k gold. Sometimes the brass is referred to as Nu-Gold or Jeweler’s Brass. They are finely polished with modern machinery for a bright gold brilliance. Because gold prices have risen extensively over the years, this is a way to get the gold look without the expense. I include a Sunshine brand polishing cloth with every order to keep your rosary looking new.
About the Construction of these Rosaries and Chaplets: I only use the strongest 49 strand cable wire marketed as professional beading wire. I also use raw brass wire guardians at my connections to further protect from friction and eliminate any fraying on the cable wire where it joins to the crucifix and rosary center. I double crimp the cable wire for added security. The solid brass jump rings are hand made in the USA by a fine gentlemen and are cut in such a way that they “click and join” when brushed together at closing. I temper these jump rings which actually strengthens and hardens them – keeping them locked tight and secure. I build my rosaries this way for free movement, i.e. keeping the stress off the crimps for lasting quality.
About the Heirloom Quality: I seldom use any base metal plated parts or silver, bronze or gold tone finishes anywhere on my rosaries unless stated in the description. If I do, I choose the highest quality materials. With most of my designs, there are no finishes to be worn off from daily use on bead caps, crimps, spacers, rings, loops etc. The metal parts are all brass. The beads used for these rosaries are usually made from high grade gemstone, Czech art glass, fine Austrian crystal or genuine vintage finds.

Privacy Policy

I do not collect, sell or store your data. Your mailing address and email are used for shipping purposes or to contact you concerning your order or replying to your direct messages in my Peter's Square mailbox only. At Garden Path Rosaries Shop, I never see your credit card number or method of payment as your transactions are all made on the Peter's Square Marketplace platform.

Terms and Conditions

Custom orders require a $45.00 non refundable deposit to secure the cost of beading materials and final production of your handcrafted rosary or Catholic jewelry. This amount will be deducted from your total purchase price and the balance must be paid in full prior to your order being shipped.

The metal parts on my items are made with unsealed brass (except the Catholic religious or rosary medals, which have been hand lacquered to protect from patination). Untreated brass will quickly develop a patina, but can easily be polished with Collinite No.850 Metal Wax or the impregnated anti-tarnish Sunshine Cloth® included with your order.

Unfortunately, I cannot authenticate the gemstones I purchase from my suppliers. I rely solely on their discriminating expertise that the stones they are supplying me with are genuine. I describe them to you as they have been described to me.

Because gemstones and glass beads are prone to breakage when dropped on hard surfaces such as concrete, gravel, tile, asphalt etc. I offer no guarantees from breakage or misuse. No rosary is completely unbreakable, but some types of construction will last longer than others. Cable strung rosaries are highly rated for durability.

I recommend to always carry your rosary on your person in a case, either in a breast pocket, handbag, backpack etc when not in prayer. Around the neck or in the pocket of your favorite blue jeans without a case are not safe places for carrying any rosary. When not in use your rosary can be draped over a holy picture, hung on a wall or displayed out in the open for contemplating.

All of my products arrive gift-boxed with a satin ribbon tied bow.

Chaplets include a prayer brochure with instructions for ease of praying.
