Small cloth book featuring icons of the Twelve Great Feasts of the Orthodox and Byzantine Catholic liturgical year.
Description
This item is made to order so please allow 7-10 business days for shipping. Also please note that the inside of the book will be exactly as in the photos, but because I use repurposed leather for the cover and strap, the leather may be a different color or style from the photo shown.
This small fabric book makes a perfect quiet church book for wiggly little ones, or a display/devotional for all ages.
The Twelve Great Feasts of the Orthodox and Byzantine Catholic year are custom printed in Iconography on a smooth organic cotton sateen. A combination of hidden stiffener, clever stitching, and a backing of quilting cotton means it bends where it’s supposed to and stays flat where it’s not for a crisp and symmetrical accordion fold. You can turn the pages like a book or open it all the way to display all 12 icons at once.
The whole thing is snugly covered with a deep brown leather (*leather color may vary) or richly colored suedecloth and closes travelers-notebook style by wrapping the leather strap around several times and tucking the ends under. PLEASE note that long leather straps present a choking hazard for small children and babies. If you order this and want to use it for children please cut the strap to a shorter length and use only with adult supervision.
Picture dimensions are approximately 3×4 inches.
The Twelve Great Feasts are in (mostly*) liturgical, not chronological order. They are:
the Nativity of the Theotokos (Birth of Mary, Mother of God)
the Exaltation of the Cross
the Baptism of Christ – Theophany, the first time the Trinity was revealed to us
The Meeting (of Simeon and the Infant Jesus in the Temple)
the Ascension
Pentecost
the Presentation of the Theotokos (the child Mary was brought to the Temple)
the Nativity of Christ
the Annunciation
The Sunday before Pascha (Easter) — the Entry into Jerusalem or Palm Sunday
the Transfiguration of Jesus
the Dormition (Falling Asleep) of the Theotokos
*You will notice that some of the feasts listed above are not in liturgical order. I don’t know why this is so, this is the order they were printed on the fabric.
