Product Types
Peter’s Square is built atop WooCommerce, a powerful ecommerce platform that’s behind thousands of popular online stores. Among other things, this means that you can create products of various kinds. A Simple Product might be something like a pair of earrings or a holy card, an item that lacks variations. A Variable Product, on the other hand, is one that has atleast one attribute that varies and that the customer should select. For example, a T-shirt has a size (attribute), and the customer needs to select one of the available sizes (variations). Likewise, a vendor might sell a wooden crucifix for which the customer has a choice of stain color (attribute), either Honey or Dark Walnut (variations).
Of course, it is up to you to decide what would be the best way to list your products. In the example of the crucifix above, you might wish to have two separate Simple Products (one for each stain color) instead of one Variable Product.
In addition to the above product types, you can sell Subscriptions on Peter’s Square. Because Subscription Products are more involved than Simple and Variable products, we’ll cover them in a separate article.
