Jade Green Sacrifice Beads

My maternal grandparents were undoubtedly the first two strongest examples I had of Marian devotion. Of all my siblings, I spent the most nights sleeping over at their house, and the most vivid memories I have of those times were the nightly rosaries. Mom’s two brothers and I would pile onto my grandparents’ bed to join them in prayer. During the day, when I had tired Mama out and she wanted to nap, she would lie down with me on the couch and teach me the prayers… and for the longest time, I thought that you prayed “Hail Mary” and “Holy Mary” on separate beads… Haha.

Anyway… Whenever I was staying over at Mama and Papa’s, I also loved to play with my grandmother’s jewelry, and she had heavy green and purple jade pieces. I thought of those when I made this bracelet.
